Your data, plainly

Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect the minimum needed to get you where you're going, we store it securely, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it. The detail is below.

Who we are

Crosby Cabz is a taxi and private hire firm based at 78 Mary Street, Scunthorpe DN15 7PX, licensed by North Lincolnshire Council. For anything in this policy, contact us on 01724 850700 or crosbycab@gmail.com. We are the “data controller” for the personal data described here.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to get you from A to B and run the business:

  • When you book — your name, phone number, email (if you give one), pickup and drop-off addresses, and your booking history.
  • During a ride — your driver's live location is shared with you in the app so you can see them coming. We don't track your phone's location.
  • Website enquiry form — your name, phone number, email (optional) and message.
  • App notifications — a device token so we can send you booking updates (for example if your booking is cancelled).
  • Payments — fares are paid in the vehicle by cash or card terminal. We never see or store your card details.

Why we use it

UK GDPR requires a legal basis for each use. Ours are: contract — taking your booking and getting you picked up; legitimate interest — answering enquiries, keeping booking history so regular trips are easier, and preventing misuse; legal obligation— records we must keep for licensing, tax and insurance. We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Children and school runs

We carry children on contracted school runs. The information involved — a child's name, pickup address, school and a parent or guardian's contact details — is provided to us by the parent, guardian, school or council under that contract. We collect nothing beyond what the journey needs, we never contact children directly, and this data is only visible to office staff and the assigned licensed driver.

Who we share it with

Nobody, except the trusted services that make the system work:

  • Supabase — our secure database, hosted in Ireland (EU).
  • Google — address lookup when you type a pickup or destination, and the map on this website.
  • Expo & Firebase — delivering app notifications.
  • Vercel — hosting this website.

Some of these providers are US companies. Where data leaves the UK/EU, it is protected by standard contractual clauses or the UK–US Data Bridge, as required by UK law. We may also share data where the law requires it — for example with our licensing authority or the police.

How long we keep it

  • Booking records — up to 7 years (tax and licensing requirements).
  • Website enquiries — up to 12 months after they're dealt with.
  • App account — until you ask us to delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, object to a use, or send it to someone else. Just call or email us — we'll respond within one month, free of charge. Deleting your data may mean we can't hold your booking history, but it never stops you booking a taxi.

Cookies

This website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. The embedded Google map may set its own cookies when it loads — see Google's privacy policy for details.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page. Last updated: 4 July 2026.
