Modern Slavery Statement
Where we stand on slavery, forced labour and human trafficking — in our firm, our supply chain, and the community we drive through every day.
Who we are
Crosby Cabz is a taxi and private hire firm based at 78 Mary Street, Scunthorpe, operating since 2002 and licensed by North Lincolnshire Council. We are below the £36 million turnover threshold at which the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires a published statement — we publish this one voluntarily, because our work includes school and council contracts and we believe our customers and partners are entitled to know where we stand.
Our position
We have zero tolerance for slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking, in our own business and in anyone we work with. Taxi work has been misused elsewhere in the country in connection with exploitation; we take that seriously rather than pretending it could never touch our trade.
Our people
- Every driver is individually licensed by North Lincolnshire Council, which verifies identity, right to work and an enhanced DBS check.
- Drivers are self-employed, choose their own hours, and are free to work for other firms — nobody is tied to us.
- Office staff are employed directly and paid at or above the legal minimum.
Our supply chain
Our supply chain is short and low-risk: vehicles and their maintenance, fuel, insurance and the software services that run our bookings. We buy from established UK-regulated suppliers. We do not source goods or labour from sectors or regions recognised as high-risk for forced labour.
Staying alert
Our drivers are out in the community day and night, and are often well placed to notice when something is wrong. Drivers are expected to report any suspicion that a passenger is being controlled, coerced or trafficked to the office, and we will report it to the police.
Anyone can raise a concern with us on 01724 850700 or crosbycab@gmail.com. The national Modern Slavery Helpline is 08000 121 700; in an emergency call 999.
